The Great Calusa Blueway 

Jump in a canoe or kayak to explore the 190 miles of the Great Calusa Blueway! Along the way you can paddle through Estero Bay, explore Pine Island South, or fish and float down the Caloosahatchee River!  

Look out for all of the different ecosystems that can be explored along the way. The Great Calusa Blueway is home to six sea grass species as well as tidal flats, mud flats, mangroves, and even oyster bars. 

Travelling through these different ecosystems, you’ll want to keep an eye out for wildlife. The Blueway is home to a wide variety of animals and is a prime spot for birding enthusiasts. 

The Rookery Islands are home to nesting birds such as egrets, herons, pelicans, and more while you can catch sight of even more birds fly over the tidal flats and oyster bars. As you paddle, keep an eye out for a dolphin or manatee as well! Bring along a camera to catch amazing photos of the wildlife along the way and remember this time adventuring with family and friends.
